About
About LAG – Lynchburg Area Gamers
Started by Dick Inc. and Clan Getsome in Lynchburg, VA in 2001. Original operators were BJ and elwappo. During their run LAG boomed to a huge following. Largest LAG was number 8 with 75 gamers. LAG averages about 30 gamers regularly. As with all LAN events in the country, the LAN Party bubble has burst and turnout levels are below the past averages. In 2008 LAG rebounded with average number of 30, selling out all events. LAG operations have ended as of June of 2009.
About SCL – StarCityLAN
SCL was started in 2002 by Admiral out of Roanoke, VA. SCL boomed during the LAN Party bubble with a great following. During 2007 season, Admiral decided to end his long run as owner and sold the event to long time supporter PhillyB. SCL only had a couple of events during his tenure and SCL suffered, as all LANs have, from competition with the internet, MMOs, and folks growing up. SCL did take part in RoanokeGameFest at the end of 2007, an attempt for Roanoke to have an enormous gaming event. Turnout was well below expectations. Eventually, SCL ownership changed hands again in 2008. SCL joined up with BJ, the founder of LAG. Though retired from main operations, BJ has placed SCL under his Lost-Entertainment.com label as supporter, sponsor, and owner. Since the change over, BJ has held one event. LONG TIME SCLers Dev, DJ Rex, and Primus have taken on event operations under BJ’s guidance. SCL rebounded through 2008 to near sellouts of 30-35. SCL has closed operations as of June 2009
